SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A 96-year-old woman stricken with influenza and pneumonia has died at her assisted-living facility, health officials said.

The Salt Lake County woman died last weekend, said Pamela Davenport of the Salt Lake Valley Health Department.

It is the first report of the death of a Utah resident associated with the current flu season. Health officials also are investigating the influenza death of a Utah girl in Arizona last week. It is not known where she contracted the disease.
