(Salt Lake City-AP) -- City officials are sweetening the pot to find the Sugar House vandals.
City officials are offering a thousand-dollar reward to find the people responsible for breaking windows and causing havoc in the Sugar House area last Friday night.
Police say reports started coming in just before six o'clock last Friday as vandals used slingshots and guns to shoot marbles and pellets to break windows.
The vandalism continue all night, with numerous windows broken at businesses, homes and in automobiles. Officials estimate the amount of damage to be in the tens of thousands of dollars.
Mayor Rocky Anderson is hopeful the money reward just before Christmas will entice the friends of the people who did it to come forward.
He says these vandals are the type of people NOT smart enough to keep their secrets very well.
People with tips should call 799-INFO (4636). Anonymous callers are eligible for the reward.
