KEARNS -- A high-speed chase throughout the west side of Salt Lake County came to an end Tuesday afternoon with two people in custody and a third still on the run.

Around 1 p.m. a Salt Lake County Sheriff's detective was staking out a drug house at approximately 4400 West and 4700 South, when the car pulled up behind him. He ran the plates and found out it had been reported stolen.

He waited and eventually the three suspects got into the car and drove off. The detective attempted to pull the car over, but the suspects drove off.

Deputies say the suspects were weaving in and out of traffic and residential neighborhoods at a high rate of speed.

After a 2- to-3 minute chase, they eventually ditched the car around 3840 W. 5245 South in Kearns.

One suspect was arrested immediately, a second a short time later. The third is still at large after jumping a sound wall separating the neighborhood from the Bangerter Highway.

One of the suspects caught was complaining he couldn't breathe and was taken to the Intermountain Medical Center.

Drugs and drug paraphernalia were found on at least one suspect.
