EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah (AP) -- Curbside recycling is coming to the city of Eagle Mountain, and if residents don't want it, they'll have to call to get off the list.
That so-called opt-out provision -- which automatically signs up residents unless they specifically ask not to be included -- is fairly new in Utah County.
Most cities in the area require residents to sign up for a recycling program.
American Fork began an "opt out" option in August and participation in the recycling program more than tripled to nearly 4,000 households.
Pleasant Grove will launch a similar program in February. Eagle Mountain plans to launch its operation in April.
Eagle Mountain Mayor Heather Jackson says the city's new recycling program is in response to repeated requests from residents.
