SALT LAKE CITY -- A Sandy man who pleaded guilty to charges he left prescription pills within reach of his 1-year-old son will not serve any time behind bars.
Brandon Newton was sentenced Thursday to probation and community service in connection with a guilty plea to a charge of third-degree felony child neglect.
Newton's son had to be hospitalized after accidentally overdosing on pills left by his father on the coffee table back on Jan. 29.
