Carole Mikita reporting A gathering tonight at the Salt Lake Tabernacle served as a reminder of the Olympics.

It's called the Interfaith Musical Tribute to the Human Spirit. In its third year, this tradition began as a way for people of different faiths to come together.

Believing that music crosses all faiths and brings people together, once again, on a Sunday night in February, Native Americans joined Catholics, Jews, Latter-day Saints and Muslims.

Baptists, those of the Baha'i faith and more. They call it a tribute to the human spirit.

Gov. Olene Walker: "In 2002, a formal recognition of this process of learning and cooperation among the different faiths began, and the same spirit permeates this meeting tonight."

From the Liturgical dancers of Judge Memorial Catholic High School to an international touch with the Russian singers, all came to further understanding.

Elder Ronald Rasband/ Quorum of the Seventy: "We must constantly cultivate a spirit of trust, friendship, appreciation and respect one for another."

Interfaith Roundtable members say their first such evening was historic. Three years later, they hope that feeling of peace and harmony and a desire to work together will be no different now.

The Salt Lake Interfaith Roundtable was created before the 2002 Olympics. Recruited and trained chaplains for the Games and members say they hope to keep this tradition, believing it strengthens the community.
