Shelley Osterloh ReportingIf you have ever lost a pet, you know how disturbing it can be. Now there is a place that tries to connect missing pets with owners.
Vickie Shaw loves her animals and when her six-year old cat went missing she was devastated.
Shaw: “He’s like my baby. My kids are all grown. I bottle-fed him, him and his three little siblings. Yea, he’s like one of the family."
She and her family searched the neighborhood for days, but still could not find him.
Vickie has done what she can to find the cat, posting flyers around the neighborhood and she’s checking local shelters. But now there is website that may be able to help, Missing Pets.com -- a nationwide, free internet site that lists lost, missing and found pets.
The site was started by an Ohio man who said he lost his dog while on vacation and realized how difficult it can be to find a missing pet. There are nearly 11,000 pets currently listed, only about 50 of them in Utah.
Vickie Shaw plans to list her cat Niner on the site. She says he misses him and won't give up the search.
Vickie Shaw: "There’s a real bond there. I know he misses me too."
