WEST VALLEY CITY -- Salt Lake County is planning to expand West Valley's Lodestone Park.

Alliant Techsystems (ATK) announced it sold 47 acres of land to the county that adjoins the current park. The land cost $4.5 million.

The property, located at 6200 South and 6200 West, will be combined with the current 17-acre park to serve as a regional park.

The land was paid for by the Park Land Acquisition Bond.

In a press release, Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon said, "The additional acreage will provide great recreational opportunities for our county residents for years to come."
