(KSL News) A Cottonwood Heights man is dead after a rock climbing accident in Big Cottonwood Canyon yesterday.
Jerad Reiners, 21, was free climbing at Moss Ledge near the picnic area with friends when he slipped on a wet rock and fell backward into the creek.
Witnesses say he fell at least 13 feet and landed on his head. Rescuers say he also suffered severe injuries to the rest of his body.
The victim was in the water for 20 to 30 minutes before rescuers could get to him. He died at the scene.
