Paul Nelson, KSL Newsradio Parents usually pack many toys, books and treats just in case their kids act up on a flight. But, some psychologists say, if you're frustrated at the airport, that could rub off on junior.

P. Brent Peterson: "Kids are master at reading the facial expressions of parents and adults."

P. Brent Peterson with Valley Mental Health says practicing what happens at the airports could get children ready for the long lines and screenings. But, he says if they still refuse to sit down and behave, don't be afraid to pull rank as a parent.

P. Brent Peterson: "Sometimes, you have to pick up a three-year-old and move them to the place they need to be."

Peterson says normally he wouldn't condone giving in to tantrums normally, but he won't criticize them for doing that on a plane.
