At last night's "Bronco Mendenhall Show," I was approached by a listener and Cougar fan who alerted me to an error in my record-keeping.
Having listed that Ty Detmer recorded 30 career wins at BYU, I was made aware that Detmer's total was actually 29 wins.
I checked with Ralph Sokolowsky, and had him dig back into the record books, and true enough, Detmer started and won only 29 games, not 30. Evidently, he was being credited two wins as a redshirt freshman, when in reality he started and won only one game (New Mexico).
So, Max Hall remains tied for second place alltime with Jim McMahon (26 wins), but is now only three games away from tying Detmer. Apologies for the erroneous information.

Hall, by the way, can become the first BYU QB to record three double digit win seasons as a starter--which makes sense, since no other QB has at least 30 wins.
