MIDVALE -- A Midvale man is in the hospital after getting stabbed while trying to stop a fight between his guests.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at a home near 7800 South and Holden Street (805 West). Police say 49-year-old Gordan Baily tried to break up a fight between 39-year-old Michael Arrington and a woman who were both renting a room in Baily's home.
Arrington apparently had a butcher knife and stabbed Baily in the upper chest and back when he tried to intervene. Police arrived to find Baily collapsed in the front yard.
Both Baily and Arrington were taken to the hospital. Baily's injuries turned out to be non-life threatening, and Arrington was transported complaining of hip discomfort.
Arrington now faces attempted homicide and domestic violence charges. Police are not sure what sparked the fight but say it could have been a broken TV.
