GREEN RIVER, Wyo. (AP) -- A new travel plan for the Ashley National Forest will give campers and anglers easier access to popular fishing and camping spots on the Flaming Gorge Reservoir.
The plan, approved last week, goes into effect in January. Officials say the plan designates 94 additional routes around the southwestern Wyoming lake.
Ashley Forest Supervisor Kevin Elliott says the plan aims to reduce impacts to forest resources and reduce conflicts between recreational uses on the forest.
The draft plan released in April drew concern from residents and local government officials in six counties, who feared the plan would restrict lake access and lead to crowding at campgrounds.
