CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- An Arizona man has been convicted of manslaughter in the death of a Cedar Valley man.
A jury returned the manslaughter verdict against Harrison Cly of Tuba City, Arizona, even though he was charged with murder. That was for the April 17th stabbing death of 28-year-old Richard Frank Lewis-Irwin.
Iron County Attorney Scott Garrett says he was disappointed in the lesser verdict, but said he supported the jury's decision if that is what the facts showed.
Investigators said Lewis-Irwin was stabbed once with a pocket knife during a fight at a home in New Harmony, eight miles south of Cedar City.
Cly testified Friday that he and others in the house were threatened by Lewis-Irwin. Cly described Lewis-Irwin as "scary."
The verdict was returned late Friday night after the jury deliberated nearly six hours.
