SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Three people are dead after two separate accidents on U-S Highway 40 yesterday.

Fifty-five-year-old Duane Goble, of Salt Lake County, and 31-year-old Luis Sosa, of Orem were traveling in separate cars that collided after one of the cars tried to pass.

Sosa was declared dead at the scene, while Goble was transported to L-D-S hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The third fatality was 50-year-old Charley Randall Bertola, of Fruitland.

He was driving a motorcycle without a helmet and struck a deer. Bertola died at the scene.
