SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The city is spending 1.28-(M)million dollars to acquire 144 acres that include Donut Falls, a scenic area where Big Cottonwood Creek rushes through a hole.
The gentle climb to the falls has been a popular hike, but private owners in 2004 stopped access because of liability fears.
Money for the purchase comes from a charge on city water bills for land acquisition.
The seller is Hawaii-based Sierra Partners.
