PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Utah Valley Regional Medical Center has received the highest level of recognition for increasing the number of organs available for transplantation.
The hospital was recently honored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. UVRMC was the only Utah hospital to receive the highest level of recognition and one of 30 nationwide.
Hospitals were ranked by how well they improved donation rates, increased the number of organs donated per individual donor to 3.75 or higher, and expanding clinical processes for recovering organs.
Primary Children's Medical Center and the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Intermountain Medical Center in Murray and McKay-Dee Hospital Center in Ogden received the silver award.
