SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A departmental probe has been launched at Southern Utah University after a political science professor used the F-word during a heated debate with a student.
Stephen Roberds used the swear word during an exchange with a student over a Supreme Court ruling during a class at the Cedar City campus.
Even though Roberds apologized to the student and the class, the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice department is investigating.
Roberds is a popular instructor, chosen by students as last year's professor of the year. He's been with the school for seven years, and is currently under review for tenure.
But the probe could hurt his chances of getting tenure.
Roberds declined comment when reached this week by The Salt Lake Tribune, but did say he's considering legal representation.
