SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A contentious highway project is soon to be back in the spotlight.
State officials are expected to release a supplemental environmental plan for the Legacy Parkway this week.
The parkway is a shorter version of the Legacy Highway which was halted by the courts three years ago.
The new plan is a 14-mile limited-access highway designed to provide an alternate to I-15 for commuters between Davis and Salt Lake counties.
It would also include miles of bicycle and equestrian trails and a nature preserve.
It's a far cry from the 100-mile roadway initially proposed, but conservationists say if this is just a smaller project with the same problems they're prepared to fight.
