SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A measure that would give sexual predators who find their victims on the Internet more jail time has passed the House.

Currently, enticing a minor over the Internet with the intent to commit a first-degree felony is actually a second-degree felony --- which carries a sentence of one-to-15 years in prison.

The bill's sponsor, however, would make the measure a first-degree felony with a sentence of three-years-to-life in prison.

The bill would also prevent state courts from shortening or suspending prison sentences if the person has a criminal history involving sex crimes.

The measure now moves on to the Senate.
