SALT LAKE COUNTY -- A portion of Interstate 80 near the Salt Lake-Tooele County border was shut down Monday afternoon following a fatal rollover accident.

Utah Highway Patrol troopers say the vehicle was eastbound shortly after 5:30 p.m. when when the rear driver's-side tire blew near mile marker 101. The vehicle spun into the median, rolled, and came to rest in the westbound lanes of traffic.

A 65-year-old woman from New Mexico was partially ejected from the vehicle and died on the scene. Four others in the car suffered minor injuries.

Troopers were diverting westbound traffic through a rest area for nearly two and a half hours. They have now reopened all lanes of traffic.
