SOUTH JORDAN -- A fire forced several residents out of their homes in South Jordan's Daybreak community early Sunday morning.

The fire started at a town house just after 2 a.m. near 11700 South and 4400 West.

The flames destroyed the garage and a car parked inside, but didn't spread into the home. The town house was attached to another, but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading into that structure.

The Greater Salt Lake Area Chapter of the American Red Cross provided the victim with food, shoes, clothing and a place to stay.

The people who lived in the unaffected town house should be able to return home once power is restored.

Investigators are still looking into the cause.
