(KSL News) -- An early morning accident in Murray. The 26-year-old driver was flown to the hospital with critical injuries.
Salt Lake County Sheriff's deputies say he ran two red lights during a chase on 500 West near 4700 South.
Authorities say he was driving too fast for the slippery conditions.
Lt. Mike Wardle, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office: "He didn't use good judgment on traveling these roads. They're snow-packed, they're slippery."
The deputy was chasing the man's car because he thought the car might have been stolen. It actually turned out to be a rental car.
Investigators say the driver won't explain why he sped away ...but they say he has a long, criminal history.
