FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) -- A counselor accused of sexually assaulting patients at a Woods Cross facility for troubled teens will serve up to 10 years in prison.
Jerome C. Moody, 49, was sentenced Monday after earlier pleading guilty to third-degree felony counts of attempted sexual abuse of a child and attempted forcible sodomy.
Moody sexually assaulted two boys, ages 14 and 15, who were residential patients of Benchmark Behavioral Health Systems during 2003, according to charging documents.
They did not report the abuse until after his firing in February.
A Utah postal worker who had for years delivered mail to Moody called Woods Cross police in June with Moody's forwarding address in Chicago, where he was arrested.
Moody apologized to the boys Monday. "Someday I hope the victims will get on with their lives," he said.
