MESQUITE, Nev. (AP) -- The Virgin River has flooded homes in Mesquite, and rising waters are threatening property downstream in Glendale and Overton.
No deaths or injuries are reported.
But Clark County emergency management officials are ordering about 250 people to evacuate homes in Overton -- where the Muddy River is rising and could begin reaching structures about midmorning.
That's about 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas.
About 25 to 30 homes flooded overnight in Mesquite -- along the Utah-Nevada border about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas.
Damage could have been worse. But a sandbag brigade of volunteers and firefighters filled and stacked about seven-thousand bags before flood waters rose.
The same's happening now in Overton.
