SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah Legislature adjourned at midnight after a 45-day session marked by a rush to take driver's licenses from undocumented immigrants and a stampede on a huge surplus by normally tightfisted conservative Republicans.
Governor Jon Huntsman claimed victory for many of his top priorities -- boosting economic development and public school funding, restoring optional Medicaid benefits cut two years ago and raising state employee salaries.
The House and Senate reached a deal on a nearly nine (B)billion dollars budget that topped Huntsman's eight-point-six (B)billion dollars proposal.
