Shelley Osterloh reporting Orem Police stake out a local business and bust a mobile meth lab.

"We had a traffic stop earlier this week where the officer discovered some very fresh methamphetamine and had seen the vehicle leave from this business"

Police have five people in custody and spent most of the day cleaning up the property.

Orem Police originally arrested one of the suspects Monday night. When the David Church of Lehi got out of jail, police say he returned to the same Orem Business. They suspected it was a drug lab.

Overnight, police staked out LaMars Appliance store located near 371 S. State Street in Orem. Police were trying to avoid a dangerous confrontation with meth makers they believed were inside.

Lt. Doug Edwards Orem Police Dept.: "But because they also suspected they may be working with an active lab. They decided rather than bursting in... And maybe causing a bigger problem, because of the dangerous nature of meth lab, they held back and waited, surrounding the business until they could find a way to peaceably resolve the situation"

Early Saturday morning, negotiators from the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force were able to talk the suspects into surrendering.

After they were decontaminated, police took into custody three men and a woman. Another woman who had left the business was also arrested a few blocks away.

The Meth lab they found was portable, and hidden in the trunk of car that was parked in back of the store.

Police say at least one of those arrested was an employee at the store.
