ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Utah sophomore Andrew Bogut is The Associated Press national player of the year.

The seven-footer from Australia led the Utes to the Mountain West Conference regular-season title and the third round of the N-C-A-A tournament. He announced Monday that he would forgo his last two years of school and enter the N-B-A draft this summer.

Bogut was second in the nation in rebounding with over 12 a game and was 15th in scoring at over 20 points a contest. He received 31 votes from the 72-member national media panel.

Duke's J-J Redick was second with 15 votes and Wayne Simien of Kansas was third with nine.
