SALT LAKE CITY -- An influential figure in the Utah broadcasting and newspaper industries has died.
George Hatch is perhaps best known for his ownership of KALL radio and KUTV television. But his influence stretched well beyond the reach of his stations and newspapers.
He was active in politics, especially the creation of national parks in Utah and the preservation of Utah wilderness. He was also a pioneer in the cable television business.
George Hatch was 89.
A memorial service is scheduled Sunday in Memory Grove.
