SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Governor Jon Huntsman's commerce chief -- Russell Skousen -- has announced he is resigning to practice law.

Skousen was a policy adviser on the Huntsman campaign who was named executive director of the Utah Department of Commerce in January.

Skousen says he plans to step down August 15th.

Skousen will be replaced by Francine Giani, who has been director of the Consumer Protection Division of the Commerce Department since 1992.

Huntsman said Giani will continue to run that division indefinitely while serving as director of the Commerce Department.

But Giani said she expects another person to be named head of the Consumer Protection Division after a search for candidates.
