HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah (AP) -- Hill Air Force Base says nearby residents may notice more aircraft taking off from the base in the coming days.
The base says the 86th Fighter Weapons Squadron will be conducting the Air Force's air-to-ground Weapons System Evaluation Program known as Combat Hammer through Aug. 21.
There will be as many as 25 additional flights taking off each day as part of the program.
The base also says aircraft have switched runway directions -- they'll be departing to the north and landing from the south -- because of construction on a part of the base's runway. Regular runway operations will resume after construction is finished in mid-September.
