CACHE COUNTY -- An 57-year-old driver from North Logan was killed by another driver who fell asleep at the wheel.

The Utah Highway Patrol says it happened Wednesday around 5:30 p.m. on State Route 30 near milepost 102.

Investigators say the driver of a Ford F-150, 18-year-old Benjamin Lundberg,* fell asleep and drifted across the center lane and crashed head-on into Mary E. Doty's car.

She was killed instantly.

Lundberg was extricated from his truck and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belt.

According to UHP, charges are pending while the investigation is ongoing.

*Editor's Note: The Utah Department of Public Safety had previously reported that Benjamin Lundberg was killed in the crash, not Mary E. Doty.
