HYRUM -- Cache County sheriff's deputies arrested a man accused of holding a woman and two children hostage at gunpoint inside a home in Hyrum.

Deputies arrived at the home shortly after midnight, and a short time later the woman and children were allowed to leave the home.

Deputies and a SWAT team negotiated with the man still inside the house for about two hours. He finally surrendered peacefully.

The suspect, identified as 52-year-old Ken Newburn of Hyrum, was booked into the Cache County Jail on charges of aggravated kidnapping and domestic violence in the presence of a child.
