(KSL News) Negotiators for the Ski Patrol at The Canyons have reached a tentative agreement that will likely avert a threatened strike.

Last week, union member voted to authorize a possible strike. That may have given a boost for discussions today. But no one is releasing details.

Before tonight's announcement, a union spokesman admitted it was a negotiating tactic.

Kent Anderson/ Communications Workers of America: "The company wasn't willing to come to the table before Christmas and get a deal. They would still be dragging their feet. So, it's a show of unity by the unit."

The Ski Patrol contract has expired, but managers at The Canyons have been working on a new pact since the fall.

The Canyons' ski patrol is the only one in Utah that is unionized.
