SALT LAKE CITY -- A young girl who fell into the Provo River Monday and was pulled from the water about half an hour later has died.

The Utah County Sheriff's office says 9-year-old Caitlin Buchowski died around 5:30 Tuesday evening at Primary Children's Medical Center as a consequence of an apparent drowning.

Caitlin is from Aurora, Colo., and was in Utah celebrating a relative's birthday.

Investigators are still looking into the incident but say it appears to be nothing more than a tragic accident.
