SALT LAKE CITY -- Police say there are dozens of witnesses to a pair of shootings in Salt Lake City over the weekend but that none of them are willing to talk.

Officers say a man and woman were both shot in the early hours of Sunday morning during a party near the intersection of 1300 South and 1400 West.

Salt Lake City police Sgt. Robin Snyder said, "Apparently it was stemming from an earlier altercation. We arrived on scene and found a female in her 20s inside one of the houses with a gunshot wound to her head. And we also found a male in his 20s outside of an address nearby with a gunshot wound to his torso."

Police say the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition but has since stabilized. The woman, however, is near death, so detectives say they're now preparing for a murder case.

"We will be looking out to find more people who may be involved or may be witnesses to this, but at this point we just don't have anybody," Snyder said.

Police are asking the public for any information on the case and are even encouraging anonymous tips.
