SALT LAKE COUNTY -- A suspected drunk driver collided with a Draper city police officer early Saturday morning.

Troopers say the collision happened around 5:30 on State Road 201.

The driver of a Dodge Stratus tried to turn left onto 8000 West, but instead slammed into the officer, who was headed east.

The collision forced the police car to roll several times until it ended up on its top. Sgt. Jason Hunter of the Utah Highway Patrol said, "The Draper City officer was trapped in the vehicle. We were able to get him out. He had minor lacerations to his head and a little bit of shock from the collision."

The other driver was given a field sobriety test, and arrested for drunk driving.

The officer is expected to be fine.
