Whit Johnson ReportingA stabbing in White City puts a man in the hospital and leaves a bloody crime scene for all the neighbors to see. Authorities are still trying to piece together exactly what happened.

Apparently an argument lead to punches, then a stabbing. There was so much blood neighbors could see it from the street. This is usually a quiet neighborhood, but this house has a reputation.

Argument Leads to Stabbing in White City

The signs of a violent altercation were easy for everyone to see.

Concerned Neighbor: "It freaks me out. I have little children. We have children all over here. There's a school right down the street here."

Neighbors asked us not show them on tv.

Concerned Neighbor: "It scares me to death in my neighborhood."

Just after 11:00 this morning, a fight broke out on Electra Lane.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff's office says Anthony Hess was apparently an unwelcome guest. He was asked to leave, but refused.

Lt. Paul Jaroscak / Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office: "Our victim in this case tried to push his way inside. Actually, there was some punching going on. The homeowner was hit in the face."

That's when the tenant pulled out a knife and stabbed Hess in the stomach. The tenant told authorities he then tried to help Hess and performed first aid.

Lt. Paul Jaroscak / Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office: "We do have a situation where it's a fight, and whether it's a self defense issue, we're just not clear on that."

Life Flight took Hess to University Hospital in serious to critical condition.

Neighbors say the tenants that live in the home have not been there long, but the home itself has a history.

Concerned Neighbor: "Some of the tenants have been drug users, known drug users. The tenant before this one was a known child sex offender."

And now something else. Exactly what happened and who is at fault is still under investigation, but neighbors are fed up.

Concerned Neighbor: "Something else has gone on in this house. It's almost as if we expect this kind of action going on here."

Authorities believe Anthony Hess's injuries are not life threatening.

The man who stabbed him was released, and more witness interviews need to be done before any charges are filed.

Also, apparently the tenants of the home have been evicted, and new residents are now moving in.
