(KSL News) The Utah Supreme Court will hear arguments this morning to decide if Wanda Barzee should continue being forced to take her medicine.

Earlier this year, a district judge decided to allow the Utah State Hospital to medicate Barzee so she could stand trial for the abduction of Elizabeth Smart.

Her attorneys filed an appeal, saying the ruling doesn't meet criteria laid out in a U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

That ruling says prosecutors must show a compelling interest is at stake and there is no less invasive way to make a defendant competent.
