DRAPER -- A 7-year-old Draper boy has died after his ATV collided with a dump truck.
Landon Woodbury was riding ATVs with his 12-year-old sister on a family farm near Monticello around 5:30 p.m. Thursday when he ran into a dump truck carrying gravel. The boy was propelled headfirst into the truck. He was wearing a helmet but still suffered serious brain injury.
He was rushed to two hospitals before ultimately being transferred to Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City, where he passed away.
His father, Spencer Woodbury, tells the Salt Lake Tribune he was doing what he loved to do the most. He called it an "unfortunate accident." Landon's grandfather, Douglas Woodbury, called the boy "just the most loving, kind little kid."
San Juan County sheriff's deputies say rain and speed may have been factors in the crash.
