Sandra Yi ReportingBrenda White was in court for a preliminary hearing.
Her husband took the stand this morning with an emotional testimony.
On the stand his voice shook and he got teary-eyed as he described what took place back on April 26th.
He said that his ex-wife Brenda showed up at his office building that day asking him to sign a deed on their home. He said when he refused she got angry.
He said a song called "Angry Johnny" was playing in her car, that song was looped so that it played from eight to ten times. He described Brenda sitting in her car putting her hands together with her index fingers pointed out to form a gun and holding it to his head while singing along to the lyrics which said, "I want to kill you, I want to blow you away."
White also said Brenda's father was teaching her how to shoot, and that she threatened him saying, "every time he teaches me how to shoot a gun, I think I'm shooting you."
White says he was walking to his car later that afternoon after he got off work when he saw Brenda again, but she was speeding toward him in her Ford Explorer. Surveillance video shows her driving her vehicle through the lobby of the Woodland Towers office building, and then backing up. Jon White was hit twice; he ran and hid in a supply room. He said he put his back to the door and he was "just scared."
Prosecutors say they plan to call two more witnesses today. After the hearing, the judge will decide if there is enough evidence in this case for it to go to trial.
Brenda White is charged with Attempted Murder and Criminal Mischief, both are felonies.
At times it appeared that she was wiping away tears from her eyes.
Her attorney says Brenda is emotional, in part, because she hasn't seen her two daughters in several months.
Jason Schatz, Defense Attorney: "Certainly I think anyone in this situation who hasn't seen their children for months would be emotional."
Alicia Cook, Prosecutor: "Attempted homicide requires an intentional act, and that act is that she did try to kill Jon White."
Schatz says Brenda was provoked by Jon.
In court, he raised questions about their marriage, asking about the couple's sex life, but the judge would not allow it.
The defense hopes to convince the judge to let them question Jon again, in another hearing. In the meantime, they want the attempted murder charge reduced.
The judge is expected to make a decision on whether the case will go to trail in January.
Jon White is remarried. He lives in Iowa with the couple's two daughters.
