SALT LAKE CITY -- It was a special day for the Granite High School Class of '49! Sixty years ago, they received their diplomas. On Friday they gathered for their once-every-five-year reunion.
Former students came in from all around the country. Richard Fox was here. He was the student body president in 1949.
"Granite was a very large school at that time, had an excellent faculty. Mostly we had a lot of fun," Fox said.
Donna and Dick Livingston were here too. They were classmates and got married not long after they graduated.

"It's good to see all the old buddies," former quarterback Dick Livingston said.
His wife added, "And we see them often sometimes in between. We have kept great friendships."
Friday's reunion luncheon was held at the Sons of the Utah Pioneers building. Around the room, you could hear snippets of conversations like:
"Hey you look great!" "How many grandkids now?"
"Has it really been five years since the last reunion?"
Margene Barker Lyon, who helped organize this gathering, says the class of '49 was always close. "I've never heard of a class that's bonded so tightly in these three years than this class. We have stayed friends all these years," she said.
Granite High first opened in 1906. Students were nicknamed "The Farmers," and the yearbook was titled "The Granitarian." Several editions of that yearbook, along with other memorabilia were on display Friday.
The students of the class of 1949 are now in their late-70s, but their memories at Granite High are vivid. So, it was all smiles when the entire group stood proudly and sang the school anthem: "Song of the G."
