(KSL News) -- An escaped convict played it cool and walked away from law enforcement looking for him. He not only got away with it once, but a second time as well.

Richard Lee Mcnair was stopped by Ball Louisiana police officer Carl Bordelon last month. The officer questioned him and asked for identification.

Mcnair said he didn't have it with him but that his name was Robert Jones..

The officer talked to dispatch and found out the man in front of him looked a lot like the escaped convict.

But moments later...

Cop: "Put yourself in my position."

Mcnair: "Well, yeah, but I'm not."

Cop: "I know, I'm not, I'm not fooling you.

Mcnair: "Not a prison escapee!

Cop: "Hey, you wouldn't believe what those guys do. They got years and years to think about how they're gonna do it."

The convicted killer is still on the run today. Last week, he was sighted in British Columbia, but managed to elude Canadian Mounties.
