EASTERN EUROPE -- Two Latter-day Saint Church leaders spent a week in Eastern Europe, visiting a part of the world where their faith is growing.

In Ukraine, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf and Elder Neil Andersen visited a temple under construction and made a humanitarian donation to a medical clinic.

During a special ceremony outside a Diagnostic Center in Ukraine, Pres. Uchtdorf presented a humanitarian donation for new advanced medical equipment for the nonprofit clinic. Calling Him the Master Healer, Pres. Uchtdorf also presented a Christus statue.

Aleksander Sitnik thanked Pres. Uchtdorf and Elder Andersen for providing services for low-income and at-risk patients, including victims of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

The Church leaders and their wives then met Latter-day Saints at the construction site of a new temple in Kiev. The Church members expressed love and appreciation that a member of their faith's First Presidency and an apostle had traveled so far to be with them.

They brought the traditional Ukrainian bread and salt, signifying everything they have, they share. They said they look forward to the temple open house and dedication.

Pres. Uchtdorf said, "It will go into Ukraine, which is a beautiful country, which is a country and a people who love beauty, who love happiness, who love music..."

In parting, the Ukrainian saints offered a song of praise, a moment their leaders said they would not forget.
