SALT LAKE CITY -- Education officials have chosen five Utah schools to create performance pay pilot programs.
Thanks to a bill approved this past legislative session, the schools will split $300,000 a year for two years to develop plans to measure teacher success and reward them with extra pay.
The pay will be based on quality of instruction, students' academic progress and parent, student or community satisfaction.
The schools are:
- Midway Elementary School in Midway
- Manila Elementary School in Pleasant Grove
- Ashman Elementary School in Richfield
- Canyon Rim Academy, a charter school in Salt Lake City
- Wasatch Peak Academy, a charter school in North Salt Lake
