SALT LAKE CITY -- A woman is recovering Monday morning after being hit by a car in the parking lot of a Salt Lake nightclub. The driver fled.

It happened around 2 a.m. at the California Night Club at 900 S. State Street.

Investigators say the driver had just been kicked out of the club and was leaving the parking lot in a reckless manner. A woman leaving the club stepped into the parking lot and was hit. The driver then sped off in a silver Ford Mustang.

Police say there's no reason to believe he intentionally hit her.

Lt. Brian Purvic of the Salt Lake City Police Department said, "He was apparently angry from being ejected and she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time."

The woman was taken to the hospital but is expected to be OK. The driver has not been found.
