GARFIELD COUNTY -- Memorial services are in the works for a beloved Boulder pilot killed in a plane wreck Friday.

Boulder Mayor Bill Muse says John Austin's wife is headed back to her home in California. That's where John Austin worked as a health care executive.

The couple split their time between California and their ranch in Boulder, the home of Austin's horses and plane.

On Friday, that plane clipped some power lines, crashed on the road and slid off the side of a bridge. He and his passenger both died.

Boulder is planning memorial services for Austin in about three weeks, when Austin's wife returns.
