SPANISH FORK, Utah (AP) -- Drama students at Rees Elementary School didn't take on anything light and fluffy for the school play.
And one parent thinks it was a little too dark for the fifth- and sixth-graders to perform a play that includes a character that is stoned to death.
"The Lottery" is about a town where one resident is picked each year to be sacrificed in order to bring a good harvest.
The drama instructor at the school says the play gave children a serious look at peer pressure. But the mother of one of the students says the play was not age-appropriate for the young children.
The play was presented at local junior high schools.
