TAYLORSVILLE -- Some Taylorsville students started a chain reaction that has lasted almost the entire school year.
Rachel's Challenge, a program named for the first victim of the Columbine shootings, encourages students to involve themselves with acts of kindness and compassion.
Since October, the students at Bennion Junior High School have been listing their kind acts and linking them together into huge paper chains.
"One of the things that's really excited me is that the students understand that they, even at their age, can make a difference even with just one small act of kindness," said Debbie Feldman, PTSA president at Bennion Junior High.
The school linked together around 42,000 rings total. Students presented the mile-long chain of kindness to the Taylorsville's mayor Thursday afternoon.
