MOAB — A motorcyclist is dead after a crash on U.S. 191, police said Monday night.

The crash happened on southbound U.S. 191 just north of Moab, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.

A person driving a Chevy Colorado was traveling south and while passing another vehicle, the Chevy and a Harley Davidson motorcycle going north in the left lane collided, Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cameron Roden said.

The man riding the motorcycle died at the scene, and the driver of the Chevy sustained minor injuries along with other people who were in the car. It was not immediately known how many occupants were in the vehicle.

Both lanes of the highway in the area were closed temporarily while crews investigate the crash.
